Opening TRP files

Did your computer fail to open a TRP file? We explain what TRP files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your TRP files.

What is a TRP file?

The TRP file format is used for a digital video file type with MPEG-2 video encoding specifications. Files in the TRP format use the .trp file extension. These TRP files are also known as MPEG-2 HD video files.

A TRP file also contains digital audio that has been encoded using the A3C codec. These .trp files are used for high definition transportation protocols for DVD (digital video broadcasting) streams. Certain set-top TV boxes and digital video recorders use these TRP files for DVD streams.

These .trp files can be played using video players and multimedia tools like the VLC media player, which was created by the VideoLAN Project Team. Other digital video converters and editing applications may also be used to create, open, edit and convert these TRP files into other standard digital video formats.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
