What is a SVF file?

SVF files have multiple uses, and Simple Vector Format is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

Simple Vector Format File

The Simple Vector Format (SVF) is a two-dimensional vector format designed for online use. Hyperlinks and layer information are both supported by this format, which makes it suitable for creating interactive web graphics.

SoftSource and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) developed SVF as an effective, simple-to-utilize format that permits interactive visuals to be designed for the web. It was crafted to be lightweight but robust enough so as to facilitate a range of capabilities like layer info and hyperlinks.

The SVF format is no longer in widespread use, as newer web technologies and file formats have since been developed and adopted.

How to open SVF files

Important: Different programs may use files with the SVF file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your SVF file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
