What is a SSC file?

Visual SourceSafe Control File

Microsoft Visual SourceSafe is a control system that can be used by many types of organizations, especially those groups engaged in a software development environment, to tackle the development and creative activities on several projects without or lessening the time constraints.

SourceSafe makes sure that multiple individuals can get a hand on the same project at the same time. It also allows sharing between networks to facilitate better communication of ideas and presentations. SSC files stand for Source Safe Control. The main purpose of files with .ssc is to report and track chronologically the edits and revisions made by different individuals/team members to various projects and files.

SSC files are geared to report what is happening in the file and who is causing it. It also provides information to limit a person's access to a file when it is necessary to change a file without everyone intervening.

How to open SSC files

Important: Different programs may use files with the SSC file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your SSC file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
