Opening SSC files

Did your computer fail to open a SSC file? We explain what SSC files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your SSC files.

What is a SSC file?

Microsoft Visual SourceSafe is a control system that can be used by many types of organizations, especially those groups engaged in a software development environment, to tackle the development and creative activities on several projects without or lessening the time constraints. SourceSafe make sure that multiple individual can get a hand on the same project at the same time. It also allows sharing between networks to facilitate better communication of ideas and presentations.

SSC files stand for Source Safe Control. The main purpose of files with .ssc is to report and track chronologically, the edits and revisions made by different individuals/ team members to various projects and files. SSC files are geared to report across the organization what is happening in the file and who is causing it. It also provides information to limit the access of a person to a file when it is necessary to change a file without everyone intervening.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
