What is a SIT file?
A .SIT file is a StuffIt Compressed Archive file.
SIT files are StuffIt Compressed Archive files that have been created by the StuffIt software application by Smith Micro. It is a common file format that is used to compress files on Macintosh computers. This allows users to take large volumes of files or single files with a large file size and compress the file or files into a single file archive.
SIT files are very like ZIP files in that they compress and archive multiple files and folders within a single file archive. However, SIT files were primarily used on Mac operating systems. Nowadays, both Mac and Windows computers can use SIT files as the StuffIt software is now available for both platforms.
