Opening SCM files

Did your computer fail to open a SCM file? We explain what SCM files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your SCM files.

What is a SCM file?

Files that contain the .scm file extension are most commonly associated with the ScreenCam screen capture software program. ScreenCam acts like a video camera for your computer desktop, recording the exact events that are occurring on the screen of the computer so that the video can be played back at a later point in time.

The SCM files that are captured by the ScreenCam software contain the video that has been recorded with the software application. The files are often used for recording computer tutorials or for recording computer gaming activity that a user wishes to share with other players.

The Spanish Whiz software application has also been known to use the .scm file suffix. These SCM files contain scrambled game sound files that are used by the application.
