Opening R05 files

Did your computer fail to open a R05 file? We explain what R05 files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your R05 files.

What is a R05 file?

The .r05 file extension is most commonly associated with split file archives. When a compression and archiving utility, such as WinRAR, is used to compress a batch of files into a single file archive, the resulting archive can be split into smaller volumes. This makes it easier to share the files over the Web and to save the archive across multiple computer disks. Each volume of the split archive is given its own extension in sequence, such as .r01, .r02, .r03, etc. The .r05 file extension is normally given to the fifth volume of the split file archive.

The .r05 file extension is also used for Norton Ghost files.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
