What is a R01 file?
Files that contain the .r01 file extension hold a volume from a split RAR file archive. When files are archived using the WinRAR application, the archive can be split into separate volumes to make distribution of the files easier.
When a RAR archive is split into smaller volumes, the individual volumes are each given a sequence of extensions, such as .r01, .r02 and .r03. The .r01 extension is usually given to the first volume of the split RAR archive.
In order to extract the contents of the archive file the user must have all volumes of the archive including the file with the .r01 extension.
