What is a QSF file?

Micrografx QuickSilver Graphic Plugin

QST (Micrografx QuickSilver Graphic Plugin) files allow you to expand the features of Micrografx QuickSilver, a vector graphics program no longer supported. These plugins can provide new import and export capabilities, special effects, and other enhancements to the software.

QST files, which users or third parties can develop, allow users to add extra features and tools to their Micrografx QuickSilver software that aren't available in the default install. They can also be shared and distributed across users.

Companies needing to create custom workflows or special effects for their documents can use QST files and plugins to automate tedious tasks and optimize workflow.

It's important to remember that support for Micrografx QuickSilver has been discontinued.

Quintessential Player Family Skin

A Quintessential Player Family Skin file is a visual-design package used by the Quintessential Player (also called Quintessential Media Player), software from Quinnware for Windows. These skins change the appearance of the player's interface. A "Family Skin" includes multiple "Kid Skins," which are smaller variants or sub-skins for different interface modes. This allows one main skin file (.qsf) to offer several layouts or styles inside it.

Quintessential Player produces files with the .qsf extension when a skin designer bundles up all the Kid Skins and associated assets (images, layout files, configuration, etc.) into a single package. Users place the .qsf file in the Skins folder of the program to install it. Within the program, they select it to apply one of its child Kid Skins or switch modes. When editing, one can unpack it (it is really a zip archive), modify the skin assets or configuration files (such as MLSkin.ini or SkinFamily.ini), and repackage it back to .qsf.

Technically, .qsf files begin with the ZIP file signature PK (bytes 0x50 0x4B 0x03 0x04 at offset 0) and contain a file named SKINFAMILY.INI somewhere inside. That INI file defines the structure of the family skin, listing child Kid Skins and defining modes or style variants.
