Opening PRA files

Did your computer fail to open a PRA file? We explain what PRA files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your PRA files.

What is a PRA file?

The .pra file extension is used in files that contain the plugin settings information for Microsoft Windows Media Player 9. PRA is mostly associated with the Adobe Premiere Pro. Adobe Premiere Pro is a timeline based video editing tool for Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS X operating systems. It is commonly used in editing news videos and video journals by broadcasters such as the BBC and CNN. Adobe Premiere is also used in editing and enhancing various movie film productions.

PRA files contain exported project settings for the selected Adobe Premiere project, such as the video codec, metadata, and output file format. These plug- in settings are necessary, that without them, the video will not play in Windows Media Player 9. PRA files are profiles created using the Microsoft Adobe Premiere 6.5 plug-in, which is used to export Premiere projects to Windows Media Player 9.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
