What are PLS files and how to open them

What is a PLS file?
PLS files have multiple uses, and WinAmp/SHOUTcast PlayList is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
The .pls file extension is most commonly given to generic playlist files. These files are used by a number of computer programs to create a playlist for a collection of audio files. The PLS files contain information about an audio file's location, but they do not contain the actual audio file or any real audio data.
How to open PLS files
Important: Different programs may use files with the PLS file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your PLS file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While WinAmp/SHOUTcast PlayList is a popular type of PLS-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .PLS file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
The .pls file extension is also used with the Accounting Plus and AccountEdge software. When the .pls file extension is used for these applications, the files contain financial information such as accounts payable and accounts receivable data.
