What are OFX files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an OFX file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your OFX files.
What is an OFX file?
An .OFX file is an Open Financial Exchange data file.
OFX is an acronym for Open Financial Exchange. The OFX file format allows for the electronic exchange of financial information over the Internet between consumers, businesses, and financial institutions.
The OFX file format was initially created in 1997 and replaced the older, outdated OFC file format introduced by Microsoft. The OFX file format allows consumers to conduct online banking, bill payment, and tax download activities.
The .ofx file extension is also used for Olicom Fax image files used in electronic Fax documents. The OFX files used by this application contain images of the faxes sent and received with the fax application.
