What is an OCX file?
An .OCX file is a Windows ActiveX Control file.
OCX is short for OLE Control Extension, a software component technology from Microsoft. Using this standard, it is possible for developers to use features from OCX modules from their own applications. For example, a developer could purchase an OCX PDF Viewer component to add PDF viewing capabilities to his document processing application.
OCX components can be written in various programming languages and is also a way to add interoperability between programming languages. As an example, a Visual Basic program can use OCX components written in C++.
You usually do not need to edit or view these files, as they only contain information usable by the software program that uses them.
