What is a NPP file?
A .NPP file is an Art Explosion Publisher Pro Document file.
An Art Explosion Publisher Pro Document file is a project file used by Art Explosion Publisher Pro (by Nova Development), a desktop publishing program for designing things like flyers, newsletters, greeting cards, brochures and other printed or digital publications. It stores all the design elements - formatted text, images, templates, layout and page settings - so that you can reopen, edit, and finish your publication within Publisher Pro.
These files are created and saved by Art Explosion Publisher Pro on Windows systems. Once you've finished working in Publisher Pro, you might export or print the document to formats like PDF or turn it into physical print output. Until then, the .npp file is the editable working file capturing everything needed for revision.
Inside, the file uses Microsoft's Compound File format (also known as OLE2 or Structured Storage), which lets it hold many different "streams" (sub-files) inside one file. It can include named objects like "SummaryInformation", "Contents", "Signature", "SCFFPreview", "Root Entry", and other internal sections; it also carries identifiable text such as "NOVA DEVELOPMENT ART EXPLOSION PUBLISHER PRO" and "COMPRESSIONFILE". It begins with the compound file signature D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1 00 at offset 0.
