What are NC files and how to open them

What is a NC file?
NC files have multiple uses, and Network Common Data Form is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Network Common Data Form File
These files are in a data file format developed by MathWorks, Inc. They are also known as unidata network common data form files.
These .nc files are generated by the Matlab software, which is a scientific and mathematical data manipulation program that was also created by MathWorks, Inc. The files contain a set of machine-independent data formats along with a series of software libraries providing functions for accessing, sharing, distributing, and creating scientific data, specifically array-oriented scientific information.
