Opening NBIB files

Did your computer fail to open a NBIB file? We explain what NBIB files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your NBIB files.

What is a NBIB file?

The .nbib file format is a proprietary and a document file type that can be found in files used in citation manager service developed by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. The .nbib file contains citations from books and can be sent using Firefox.

Doing a research directly in PubMed (a free search engine accessing primarily the MEDLINE database of references and abstracts on life sciences and biomedical topics), the user, after marking all the records needed, is prompted to send the marked records in Citation Manager for profiling and authorization. When done, document/s with .nbib is/ are generated and it/they will be sent through chosen browsers and the Internet will prompt the download. The .nbib files can be found in the Endnote Library.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
