Opening MD files

Did your computer fail to open a MD file? We explain what MD files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your MD files.

What is a MD file?

Files that contain the .md file extension are primarily associated with the Chaos Desktop software application that is distributed by Chaos Systems AB.

Chaos Desktop is a document management software application. This software creates data and metadata from template information. The metadata files that are created by the Chaos Desktop application are stored with the .md file suffix.

The .md file extension is also used by MDCD 1.0. MDCD 1.0 is a file compression and decompression application that uses a 13 bit LZW algorithm. The files that are compressed using this compression utility are saved with the .md file extension.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
