What are LRX files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a LRX file or just wondering what they contain? We explain what these files are used for and show you software that we know can open or otherwise handle your files.
What is a LRX file?
A .LRX file is a Sony Portable E-book Reader Encrypted Book file.
These files are electronic books in Broad Band eBook (BBeb) format - a proprietary eBook format developed by Sony and Canon for portable Sony e-book reading devices.
Unencrypted e-books in this format are saved with the .LRF file extension, whereas encrypted books are saved with the .LRX file extension. Encrypted books are protected with a Digital Rights Management (DRM) system, so only users who purchased the book can read it.
The Sony e-book store switched from the BBeB file format to the more common EPUB file format in 2010.
