What are LDIF files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a LDIF file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your LDIF files.
What is a LDIF file?
A .LDIF file is a LDAP Data Interchange Format file.
Files that contain the .ldif file extension are most commonly associated with LDAP directories. LDAP is an acronym for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. LDAP is an Internet protocol that allows email programs and other applications to look up information on a specified server.
The LDIF files that are used by these LDAP directories are used to describe a specific directory and the entries that are contained within that directory. The LDIF file also stores any changes that have been made to the directory entries.
