What are JWC files and how to open them

What is a JWC file?

JWC files have multiple uses, and JewelCase Maker Project is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

JewelCase Maker Project

The JewelCase Maker Project (.JWC) format is a project file used by NTI JewelCase Maker (also called JewelCase Maker by NTI Corporation) to store designs for CD or DVD jewel cases, inlays, covers, labels, and related printable artwork. The software is used to sketch and lay out what will be printed or burned - such files are the working "project" files, not raw media or image format outputs.

These files are created only by JewelCase Maker and opened (edited and viewed) in the same program. Within the program, you build layouts for the front, back, inside of the case, the disc label, etc., adding images, graphics and styled text; the project file saves all of those elements together as a single design unit. Once your design is complete, separate files (e.g. bitmaps or print-ready formats) are generally produced from it for printing or production.

The file begins with a Microsoft Compound File Binary (OLE2) header (bytes D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1 00 at offset 0), and elsewhere includes ASCII-identifiable strings such as "ROOT ENTRY" at offset 1536, "CONTENTS" at offset 1664, as well as "NTIJCMKR" and "CLABEL" among its internal markers.
