What is an IMP file?
IMP files have multiple uses, and Adobe Audition Impulse is one of them.
Adobe Audition Impulse File
IMP files are part of output audio files generated by Adobe Audition. Audition features various capabilities, like multitracking, for editing digital audio recordings.
It allows different sound sources or tracks to be edited and merged to create one audio file. Each sound source is composed of wavelengths. When used in Adobe Audition, they are transformed into a waveform. Various pieces of data from impulses normally influence the audio waveform. This data is stored in .imp files.
By specifying the audio properties, the necessary impulse data is generated to change the original audio file. Files with the .imp extension pertain to timeline information of an amplitude map of a waveform. When audio is being edited in Adobe Audition, the user can apply effects like distortion of the audio and convolution (according to the user's customization).
