Adobe InDesign, a desktop publishing software geared to create publishing media work like posters, books and flyers. Like any other software, there are multiple users in InDesign that can alter the same files. Files with IDLK (InDeisgn Lock) file extension is created when someone uses Adobe InDesign. IDLK files serve as an "ID" when a file, especially the file with .indd, is being opened and/ or being edited. Files with .indd extensions are project files for InDesign
Having an .idlk files in your computer mean that some of the .indd files are open. It signifies that on that specific file, currently, someone is using it. InDesign is a house of information and features that any user can have access. And there are times that users may need the same information or files at the same time, which make change inevitable. The changes will not be successfully integrated if there are two users causing it at the same time. To alert a user or to help him identify which file is in use, .idlk file is created. Once the file is used, .idlk file is created so that when another user try to open the file that is in use, the system will prompt him thus, the file will not be opened. IDLK file is a temporary file that upon closing the primary file, it also goes right away.
