The .idf file extension is most commonly associated with MIDI instrument definition files. The IDF files define the parameters of a MIDI instrument or controller. These files provide the instrument ID, key map, channel assignments and other necessary MIDI information.
The .idf file extension is also used for identification files, InspireData files, Printed Circuit Board data exchange files and Autodesk intensity duration frequency factors data files.

File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about the IDF file format or software that uses files with the IDF suffix, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
