Opening FPT files

Did your computer fail to open a FPT file? We explain what FPT files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your FPT files.

What is a FPT file?

The .fpt file extension is most commonly used by the FileMaker Pro database application. Other database applications also use the FPT file format. These files contain the textual information that is used to describe a database, also referred to as a memo. The FPT files use raw text to describe the database, rather than using a standard database field. Files with the .fpt file extension do not contain any actual database information. The FPT files only store the associated database's memo comments.

The .fpt file extension is also used for AbacusLaw data files, Act! files, Alpha Five memo field files and Liquid Audio Player faceplate (theme) files.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
