Opening ENV files

Did your computer fail to open an ENV file? We explain what ENV files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your ENV files.

What is an ENV file?

The .env file extension is a found in the data files that served as a reference when Adobe programs like Acrobat and Illustrator used spell checking and other dictionary-related features. ENV files are dictionary files containing access and queries sent to the program every time a user attempts to search the meaning or correct the spelling a word.

Accompanied by .lex and .clx files, .env composed of listings of various words needed to verify the spelling of a certain text whenever the users compose. To be more specific, .env stands for the environment and this is a data file that gives the "environment" or meaning in the word in search or in check.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
