Opening ENW files

Did your computer fail to open an ENW file? We explain what ENW files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your ENW files.

What is an ENW file?

The .enw file extension is used for a data processing file format, which was developed by Microsoft Corporation. These ENW files are generated by older versions of the Windows platform when processing text documents with embedded objects. These .enw files are also generated by old versions of Microsoft Word when saving documents with multimedia content.

These ENW files contain code that is used by the Windows OS and Microsoft Word to associate certain elements of the document that is currently being processed. These .enw files may also contain metadata details that are related to the document that is currently being processed by the Windows OS or by Microsoft Word.

The .enw file format may be outdated and unsupported as of this time. The versions of Windows and Microsoft Word that use these ENW files as Windows processing files may also be outdated and unsupported as of this writing. It's best to leave these ENW files alone.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
