What are DTP files and how to open them

Important: Different programs may use files with the DTP file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your DTP file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While Greenstreet Publisher Document is a popular type of DTP-file, we know of 6 different uses of the .DTP file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.

Harvard Spotlight Desktop

We know that one DTP format is Harvard Spotlight Desktop. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.

PageMagic Document

We know that one DTP format is PageMagic Document. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.

PDP-8 DECtape dump

These DTP files contain dumps of data stored on a DECtape, a magnetic tape data storage medium used by the PDP-8 computer from Digital Equipment Corporation. The data is formatted into blocks, allowing you to read and write each block individually. This makes the DECtape tape systems work the same way as a hard disk, only much slower.

PressWorks document

These DTP files contain the documents created in PressWork, a desktop publishing application released by GST, a group of computer companies. You can create logos, forms of online content, and documents for print publications. You have control over design, layout, and typography.

Timeworks Publisher/Publish It! Document

We know that one DTP format is Timeworks Publisher/Publish It! Document. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
