Kingsoft Presentation Template

Kingsoft Presentation Template (.DPT) is a file format used with Kingsoft Presentation (now part of WPS Office). A .DPT file stores reusable slide‐layout and styling settings - such as default fonts, colors, backgrounds, and placeholder layouts - so that new presentations can share a consistent look. It does not hold full presentation content (slides with specific text or data), but the template elements authors design to apply to many presentations.

The Kingsoft Presentation application creates these files. When making a template, designers set up the visual theme and structure in Presentation, then save as .DPT. Later users open or load a .DPT template to produce new presentations (often saved with .DPS extension) that reuse those theme and layout settings, saving time and ensuring consistency.

Files begin with the binary OLE Compound File header (bytes D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1 at offset 0). Inside the file are recognizable text strings such as POWERPOINT DOCUMENT, SUMMARYINFORMATION, CURRENT USER, SOFT OFFICE, ROOT ENTRY, KINGSOFT, DBMO, and WPS, which help identify it.
