DEPROJ File

What are DEPROJ files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a DEPROJ file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your DEPROJ files.

What is a DEPROJ file?

A .DEPROJ file is a Disketch Project file.

Disketch Project files store the layout of disc labels designed in Disketch, software made by NCH Software for creating and printing CD/DVD/Blu-ray disc labels and cases. These files work much like drafts: they do not contain the final printed image itself but everything needed to continue editing. They save information such as label templates, text placements, fonts, imported images, clipart or frames, and any overlays added so that the design can be adjusted, reviewed, or printed later. Disketch projects can be printed on ordinary printers or printed directly onto discs, provided the hardware supports disc-label printing, or exported to formats like PDF, JPEG, PNG, or TIFF for use elsewhere.

The files are created and read only by Disketch. When a new project is started, Disketch builds the project using a label layout - such as CD, DVD, case, or printable disc - and tracks all design elements as overlays so that text or images can be added or moved later. Projects are periodically auto-saved for recovery, and users can open existing projects to change layouts, adjust graphics, and then print or export the result.

Projects in this format are stored in a binary form. They begin with a specific byte signature: at offset zero the bytes "6C 73 64 66 01 00 07 00" (ASCII: "lsdf") serve as a magic header identifying the file as a Disketch project.
