What are DBG files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a DBG file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your DBG files.
What is a DBG file?
DBG files have multiple uses, and ASIC Compiler Debug Info is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
ASIC Compiler Debug Info
The .dbg files are debugging information files of the ASIC programming language. Debugging is a process in computing in which developers identify, and remove or replace coding errors in computer software. These .dbg files are used to identify code error information when designing a program in ASIC.
ASIC is a computer programming language designed by Dave Visti in 1994 for the 80/20 Software company. It was released for computers running MS-DOS and other compatible systems as a shareware program.

InstallShield Debug Symbols
The DBG files used by InstallShield are debugging files containing coding error symbols. InstallShield is software used by developers to create installers or other software. Debugging is a term used in computing, which means identifying the code errors and removing or replacing them with correct ones.
A .dbg appears when InstallShield's debugging process shows incorrect codes in the form of symbols designed software. These symbols pertain to special characters which the codes cannot read, making the designed program unable to run.
Microsoft Separate Debug Format
We know that one DBG format is Microsoft Separate Debug Format. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
