How to open CXT files
Did your computer fail to open a CXT file? We explain what CXT files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your files.
What is a CXT file?
Files that contain the .cxt file extension are most commonly associated with the Adobe Director (previously Macromedia Director) multi-media authoring application. CXT files contain Director cast or object files that have been saved in a protected file format.
The CXT file format prevents the Director files from being edited and allows objects to be shared without the risk of being modified. When a user opens a Director file that is already open, a CXT copy of the file is automatically created, preventing the user from making edits to the locked copy of the file. When the file is closed, the copy is automatically deleted.
