Opening CPR files

Did your computer fail to open a CPR file? We explain what CPR files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your CPR files.

What is a CPR file?

The .cpr file extension is used for a data file format that was developed by Steinberg Media Technologies GMBH. The CPR file format is used as the default project output file format of the Cubase software, which is a music editing and authoring tool. Also known as Cubase project files, these .cpr files are generated by the Cubase software.

These CPR files contain digital audio data with specific enhancements and audio editing attributes that are provided by the Cubase software. Upon finalizing a .cpr project file in Cubase, the user may opt to save the project in a more standard audio file format like MP3 or WAV. These CPR files may also store relevant metadata info like creation date and time stamps among other details.

The Cubase software can be used to open and view the content of a CPR file. This program can also be used to create and edit .cpr files. This program has versions for Microsoft Windows PCs and Mac OS X computers.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
