What is a CONT file?

The .cont file extension is used as a settings, options and theme file format that was developed by Panasonic Corporation for some of their HD camcorder products. These .cont files are also known as Panasonic camcorder extra files. A .cont file normally contains code that is used by these Panasonic HD camcorders to apply user-specified settings and built-in functions to the firmware and hardware configurations of the HD camcorders.These CONT files are found in data storage devices that are equipped into supported Panasonic HD camcorders. The code in these .cont files can extend the functionality of these Panasonic HD camcorders, including face recognition features, thumbnail creation functions and so on. These CONT files can also be used with the Panasonic HD Writer software to edit and add certain effects to digital video recording output files that are generated by these Panasonic HD camcorders.A .cont file can be opened and edited using the Panasonic HD Writer software, which is a Windows PC program. These CONT files can also be created by the Panasonic HD camcorder itself or the Panasonic HD Writer software.
