Opening CONTACT files

Did your computer fail to open a CONTACT file? We explain what CONTACT files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your CONTACT files.

What is a CONTACT file?

Files that contain the .contact file extension are most commonly used by a variety of software applications on the Microsoft Windows Vista platform in order to store information about a user and the user's email and messaging contacts.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 are the two programs that use the .contact file suffix to store a user's contact information for various applications. This file format replaced the older Windows Address Book.

The CONTACT files are normally saved in the XML file format. Microsoft Windows Live is one of the applications that uses the CONTACT file format to store a user's contact information.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
