What is a COMICLIFE file?

A .COMICLIFE file is a Comic Life Document file.

Comic Life is a desktop and mobile application for designing comics, picture-based storyboards, scripts or visually rich layouts. It enables insertion and positioning of images, text balloons, captions, shapes and letterings on one or more pages; panels arrange content; templates and styles control layout and appearance. The Comic Life Document is the format that saves all the project's structure and content so editing can be paused and resumed.

Plasq's Comic Life app writes this document format (called Comic Life Archive in version 3) to store all the data needed to reopen and edit the project later. Inside it are multiple pages, each with panels, image filters, text elements and style settings. The format allows effects, metadata (such as author, model version, system version), thumbnails, and images to be embedded. When needed, projects can be exported into other formats like PDF, EPUB, CBZ, JPEG, PNG or GIF from the saved document.

Files in this format begin with the ASCII signature "fLmC0011PaxHeader/Contents" at offset zero. Other internal identifiers frequently encountered include strings such as "SCRIPTBALLOONTYPEMETADATA", "ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.", "COM.PLASQ.COMICLIFE3", "DOCTYPE PLIST PUBLIC", "IMAGEFILTERPARAMETER", and "THUMBNAIL.PNG".
