What is a COMICDOC file?

A .COMICDOC file is a Comic Life Document file.

Comic Life document files are the native project files used by the Comic Life application from plasq. They store a complete working comic project - including pages, panels, captions, speech bubbles, lettering, templates, styles, layout settings, images, and all the formatting details - so that editing can be resumed later.

These files are produced by saving a comic-in-progress from within Comic Life. They are not final export formats, so publishing or sharing usually requires exporting to PDF, CBZ, ePub, image sequences or similar formats. Projects saved in this format are meant for future editing, layout adjustments, and page revisions.

The format begins with a signature "fLmC0001" at the very start of the file. The file contains plain-text keywords and fields such as CAPTION.GRADIENTFILLCOLOR, BUBBLE.SHADOWBLURRADIUS, PAGE.NUMBERJUSTIFICATION, etc., used to describe the appearance and styling of comic elements. These internal identifiers help the program reconstruct the full visual layout, styles, and content when reopening the project.
