What is a CL2ARC file?

A .CL2ARC file is a Comic Life 2 Archive file.

Comic Life 2 Archive is a compressed archive format used by the program Comic Life 2, developed by plasq. It stores an entire comic book project - including pages, images, layout information, styles, and metadata - in a single package, making it useful for sharing or backing up a project. It is intended as a more transportable and self-contained version of the native project file format used during editing.

This format is produced by Comic Life 2 when the "Archive" saving option is selected instead of the standard editable document format. When archived, the project's assets (such as images, thumbnails, stylesheet definitions, and revision history) are bundled along with XML-based description files describing layout and content. The resulting archive is intended to reopen in Comic Life 2 with full fidelity, preserving margins, panels, text styles, frame arrangements, and other design settings.

Internally, the archive is a ZIP-type container. Among its contents are files such as INDEX.XML and INFO.PLIST, folders of page images (often JPEGs), thumbnails (PNG), stylesheet data, and many XML or PQA-marked resources defining text justification, stroke settings, shadow parameters, fill types, color gradients, font names, and other style elements. The file begins with a byte signature "fLmC0001Contents" (ASCII) at offset 0.

How to open CL2ARC files
