What is a CCX file?

A .CCX file is a Corel Clipart file.

Corel Clipart files store ready-made graphic artwork in a compact, exchangeable form for Corel's clipart collections. Created by Corel Corporation, these files were widely distributed on clipart CDs and galleries for use with CorelDRAW, enabling users to import decorative illustrations, symbols, or other graphical elements into designs without creating them from scratch. They combine vector artwork, embedded bitmaps, and associated metadata into a single file, making them convenient for inserting into documents or layouts. Earlier versions of CorelDRAW support them directly, while support in more recent releases is reduced or removed.

These files are produced by Corel as part of their clipart and gallery content business. Designers incorporating Clipart into their work in CorelDRAW could use this content to augment their designs without designing every element by hand. Over time, Corel moved toward newer formats; "Corel Compressed Exchange" format (CCX) is built to be a compressed variant of their earlier exchange formats. Users who have older collections of CCX clipart often convert them or rename them to a more modern format (for example .CMX) to retain compatibility.

CCX files begin with a RIFF header, followed by internal signatures identifying Corel Binary Meta File content ("{CorelBinaryMetaFile}", "CDRXcont"), metadata tags like "INFOIKEY", "ICMT", and other chunk identifiers such as "PACK", "CPNG", "LIST", "DISP", and "CCMMH".

How to open CCX files

Important: Different programs may use files with the CCX file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your CCX file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
