Did your computer fail to open a C3D file? We explain what they are used for and recommend software that we know can open or otherwise handle your .C3D files.
What is a C3D file?
A .C3D file is a Chem3D Format file. These C3D files contain molecular visualizations created in Chem3D, a software created for chemists. This software is divided into three sections. These sections are two-dimensional chemical drawings, three-dimensional molecular modeling, and chemical information management. You have access to pre-generated molecular structures that can be found in the comprehensive internal sub-structure library. We have not yet verified any programs for Windows that work with this specific file format. If you know one, please use the 'Suggest a program' link below. Thanks!
What else are .C3D files used for?
While Chem3D Format is a popular type of C3D-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .C3D extension.
The C3D file extension indicates to your device which app can open the file. However, different apps may use the same file extension for different types of data. So a C3D opener may not be able to open all kinds of C3D files. In this case, look through both formats to make sure you find the best suited C3D viewer.
Coordinate 3D file
Through our analysis of C3D files, we know that one use of the format is Coordinate 3D file. We have not yet described in detail what these files contain and what they are used for, but our team is working tiredlessly through thousands of file formats. We'd love hearing from you if you have information about the format.
Various C3D file openers, viewers, etc.
These apps are known to open certain types of C3D files. Remember, different programs may use C3D files for different purposes, so you may need to try out a few of them to be able to open your specific file.
