What are ACTION files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an ACTION file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ACTION files.
What is an ACTION file?
Files that contain the .action file extension are most commonly associated with the Automator software application. Automator is a program that is used to create WORKFLOW automations in the Mac OS X environment.
The ACTION files that are used by this software contain specific automation actions. These actions can be combined with other actions to create automated processes that are used in a user's WORKFLOW documents.
There is a library of ACTION files included with the Automator software, although additional ACTION files may also be downloaded from the Apple website.
The .action file extension is also used for outdated files that were used with Apple II computers. This file format has been discontinued and is no longer supported.
