A2T File

What are A2T files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening an A2T file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your A2T files.

What is an A2T file?

An .A2T file is an Adlib Tracker II Tiny Module file.

Adlib Tracker II Tiny Module files (.A2T) store music created using Adlib Tracker II, a tracker program designed for making FM-synthesized audio for OPL2/OPL3 chips. These files hold the full song data - musical patterns, instrument settings, tempo and speed - that can be played back using the internal FM synthesis of Adlib Tracker II.

These files are produced when a composer finishes a piece in Adlib Tracker II and saves it in the "tiny module" format. Unlike full-module formats (.A2M in the same program), "tiny module" implies a more compact variant with possibly fewer features or lighter overhead. To hear or edit a .A2T file, it is opened in Adlib Tracker II (or a player compatible with AT2 formats).

Files begin with a distinctive ASCII header. At offset 0 the bytes read "_a2tiny_module_" (hex 5F 61 32 74 69 6E 79 5F 6D 6F 64 75 6C 65 5F), which identifies the file as a tiny module.
