Windows Essentials Media Codec Pack
If you are looking for Windows Essentials Media Codec Pack, you have come to the right place. We explain what Windows Essentials Media Codec Pack is and point you to the official download.
What is Windows Essentials Media Codec Pack?
The Windows Essential Codec Pack is a free bundle of audio and video decoders that are used in expanding the capabilities of the Windows Media Player. It expands the list of file formats that the player can handle, giving users the ability to play most disc media—from DVDs to XCDs—and a massive list of file formats, including the following: UMX, HD-MOV, MOD, MO3, MPC, TTA, OFR, ATRAC3, and WavPack.
This Codec Pack actually does more than simply expand Windows Media Player’s compatibilities, though: it also adds some useful utilities such as a subtitle creator. Users can enter their own subtitles for media using the tool. It also comes with an installer for a third-party toolbar—but this is not actually a prerequisite if you want to install the codec pack, i.e. it is possible to decline the offer to install it without having a negative impact on the pack’s installer or function.
The pack is completely free and is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Vista, Windows 98 and the NT and Server 2008 versions of the operating system.
