PSCAD

If you are looking for PSCAD, you have come to the right place. We explain what PSCAD is and point you to the official download.

What is PSCAD?

PSCAD is a computer-aided design and simulation program for power systems. The latest iteration of the program is now available in 64-bit, allowing users to harness the power of added memory space for more complex and more massive simulations. It also allows users to add simulations to Simulation Sets. Simulation Sets are used to compile power system simulations that the user wants to run all at the same time.

One of the most important functions of the software is black-boxing. Some power system designs or details may be complex or novel enough to warrant the creator’s protection of them as intellectual property. To prevent disclosure of protected elements in a system design, the program allows users to apply a black-box function to those elements, effectively still packing them in the finished model (and thus still usable in simulations) while concealing their details through conversion of them into compiled binaries.

The software also allows users to reuse module hierarchies across files or projects (provided they are saved for it), has multi-workspace capabilities, is able to provide advanced search options, and has a PV source tracking tool.
