What is Portal?

Portal is a first-person puzzle-platform video game which comprises of a number of puzzles that the player has to solve. The player also has to teleport simple objects using an “Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device” which is a device that creates portals between flat planes. This video game was developed and published by Valve Corporation in 2007, originally, in a bundle package called The Orange Box.

The game is played by controlling the main character and protagonist named Chell as she goes through the challenges while making her way past a series of rooms using the Aperture Science Handheld Device or simply called the portal gun. The main character is then monitored and guided by the antagonistic and artificially intelligent computer called GLaDOS which stand for Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System. The video game Portal is set in a fictional research facility Aperture Science, which also created the portal gun.

Although this video game was initially released for Windows and Xbox 360, it has been made to be compatible with most operating systems and consoles which include Mac OS X, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation 3.
