If you are looking for MediaPortal, you have come to the right place. We explain what MediaPortal is and point you to the official download.

What is MediaPortal?

MediaPortal is an open-source media center that provides a 10-foot user interface. It allows users to transform their PCs into a media solution.

With MediaPortal, users can play movies, videos, Blu-ray discs, and DVDs. They can also listen to radio and music; record, schedule, and watch live TV; check the news, RSS feeds, weather, and more; stream radio, TV, and media to any HTPC/OPC connected to their network; use a remote to control the HTPC while sitting far away from the computer; access MediaPortal from mobile devices; and create slide shows of images or videos. These can all be done on either the computer itself, on a big screen LCD, plasma TV or projector.

In addition, the software runs on a hardware which can be connected directly to the Television. Through this, users can record TV series, music, and movies.

In playing videos, MediaPortal integrates an MPAR that enables smooth playback of videos. Moreover, the gallery contains navigation tools that help users to change the look of screen shots.

For more advanced use, the software offers a connection to an AVR which supports DTS, Dolby Digital, and other HD formats.
