Lua

If you are looking for Lua, you have come to the right place. We explain what Lua is and point you to the official download.

What is Lua?

Lua is a programming language (not to be confused with LUA), which is from the Portuguese word for “moon” (historically Lua was partly based off another programming language called Simple Object Language or SOL, which is the name for the Sun). Lua is primarily known for being the most popular scripting language for video games due to its fast execution and the relatively short learning curve, its cross-platform functionality, and its comparatively straightforward C API. Lua is similar to Python in that it was intended to be embedded into other software, but it is faster and simpler.
Also known as multi-paradigm language, Lua has a set of general features which can be modified to meet various problems or situations, unlike other programming languages that become so bloated due to their propensity to provide multiple features to address a single “paradigm”. These flexibilities of meta-features allow Lua to be minimalist in nature and extremely light, and can be adapted to a wide variety of applications.

Lua is licensed under the MIT License program.
