What is Half-Life?

Half-Life is a game categorized as science fiction. This is a shooter type of game where the user plays the role of Dr. Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist working in the Black Mesa Research Facility. Set in New Mexico, the player battles it out with aliens while also avoiding a US Marine Corps special unit, the Hazardous Environment Combat unit.

When an experiment goes wrong, and with most of his companions dead, Gordon Freeman has to find his way out of the facility while fending off the aliens from Xen. Gordon has two enemies that want him killed: the special unit from the US Marine Corps ordered to cover-up the incident by killing all survivors; and the aliens.

The game provides continuous play, which means that the user does not have to go from one level to the next. It unfolds as one whole storyline, with chapters of the story appearing once the player has crossed over.

At certain parts of the game, the player is assisted by a few characters such as the security guard of the facility, and other scientists.
