What is Dota?
Dota 2 is an online multiplayer game from Valve Corporation. The game is a follow-up of the Defense of the Ancients (DotA) online battle arena, which is also a multiplayer game and a modification of the game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
It is a standalone strategy game that involves two teams of players, who battle it out to destroy the opposing team’s Ancients. Ancients are structures that are located within each team’s fortifications. Each team is composed of 5 players. The members of each team must coordinate with one another to plan their strategy in destroying their opponent’s defenses.
The teams are divided into factions, one located at the southwest end of the map (Radiant), and the other at the northeast end (Dire). Players choose the hero that they want to play. There are one hundred heroes to choose from, each one having their own strengths and weaknesses.
Dota 2 is available only on Steam, the company’s digital distribution platform. At the moment, the game is only available for Windows PCs.
