What are ZOT files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening a ZOT file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ZOT files.

What is a ZOT file?

A .ZOT file is a Zoot Information Processor Database file.

The Zoot Information Processor Database format (extension .ZOT) is the file type used by Zoot, a Windows application designed to manage large amounts of information. Zoot creates .ZOT files to store entire user databases which may include notes, clipped content, Outlook email items, web browser URLs, reminders, custom fields, tags, and tasks. These database files help users organise information for research, writing, project tracking and knowledge work.

A Zoot .ZOT file is written by Zoot Software when a user creates or updates a database within the program. The file is intended to be opened, edited and managed only by Zoot; the program lets users view data using smart folders, synchronize with Outlook, add annotations and reminders, and maintain multiple separate databases for different projects.

The file's internal structure begins with a three-byte ASCII signature "ZOT" at offset zero.

How to open ZOT files
