What are XPS files and how to open them

What is an XPS file?
XPS files have multiple uses, and XML Page Specification Document is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
XML Page Specification Document
Files that contain the .xps file extension are used for document files that have been written in the XPS page specification format.
Microsoft developed the XML Page Specification language, and it was intended to replace the EMF file format. XPS files are similar to PDF files.
An XPS file is created in Windows when a user selects the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" option when printing a document that they have created.
How to open XPS files
Important: Different programs may use files with the XPS file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your XPS file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested ten different XPS openers which you will find listed below.
