What are UWL files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an UWL file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your UWL files.
What is an UWL file?
Files that contain the .uwl file extension are commonly used by the spell check utilities that are included in the Corel WordPerfect and Novell GroupWise word processing software applications.
When a user performs a spell check operation, the spell checker designed into the application will often return "false positives" picking up on words that are not actually misspelled. The user can then choose to add the word to the application's dictionary. The next time the spell check is run the application will recognize and validate the words.
The UWL file contains the list of words the user has added to the application's dictionary. Each time a word is added, the UWL file is updated by the associated application.
